L to R: My great grand aunt Tinnie “Tiny”, unknown friend and my great-grandmother Myrtle, Circa 1910

Myrtle Kelley and friend, Circa 1910
These two photos are the only images of my great-grandmother Myrtle as a young woman. The Kelley family lived out in the country in Geneva, Alabama. Because the sisters were dressed in their “Sunday best”, I’m assuming they were on a date or this was after a church service.
I like the hairstyles and clothing from this era.

I love Myrtle’s face in the first photo. It’s almost like she is saying “what’s with this guy?”
She definitely has a look going on! I also see “I’d like to be anywhere else but here” look on her face.
What’s behind Myrtle’s dress? Is it a fan or part of the dress? And what is Tinnie planning to do with that log in her hand?
I think Myrtle is holding a fan or maybe a hat behind her dress. I’m not sure what Tinnie had in mind with the log. Maybe to keep her boyfriend in line.
