Terrell M. Fielder is my 4G Grandfather. He was the son of James & Sallie “Sarah” Benge Fielder. Terrell’s birthdate (1797) was found on the back of an original picture and his death date was unknown. Several years ago, a fellow Fielder researcher located Terrell’s obituary and we learned that he died on July 30, 1873. He was sick for over two months before he passed away and during that time the only nourishment he would take was water. What a miserable way to go!

Terrell Fielder, for many long years ‘a soldier of the Cross and follower of the Lamb’, breathed his last near Good Hope Church in this county, on the morning of the 30th ult., about 2 o’clock. His numerous friends will be pained to learn of the sad, though to those around him, not unlooked for, event. He languished over 2 months and his life passed out quietly as night’s sable steals o’er the earth.

We are grieved to learn that old father Terrell Fielder, near Good Hope Church, has been lying 40 days without nourishment of any kind save crushed ice and his recovery is almost totally despaired of.
